Ka Hula of Move: Spirit & Rhythm Dance Program at Deep Root, is a beginning level class that teaches basic hula steps and execution that’s foundational in learning traditional Hula.

Students will learn basic language vocabulary/terminology of each step as well as acquire a knowledge of basic history.

Healthy mindful movement exercises will be integrated in the warm up to prepare the body and mind for learning.

This class is for anyone who desires to learn the basics of the art and expression of Hula.

MEET YOUR COACH

 

Shereel's has studied Hula for 16 years. She trained and performed at Halau Hula `O Kupukalau`ie`ie in Berkeley, CA learning Hawaiian language, culture, history, and arts. She has performed at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu HI, Aloha Festival Napa, CA and has competed in the hula competition `Ia Oe E Ka La. 

Shereel's dance experience spans 40 years of training, performance, and choreography in a wide range of dance styles and traditions. She teaches and performs throughout the U.S. and Hawai’i, having won critical accolades for major performances in the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle. She has also been recognized as a pioneer in the Christian & Praise Dance genres. We are delighted to have her.
